There’s the “nesher” shuttle to and from Ben gurion and yerushalayim. They wait right outside arrivals. If you don’t see a van just wait for one.
Very reasonably priced.

Not OP.

Would a Nesher go to RBS?
If I get off an El Al flight from NY, won't there be hundreds of people waiting in line for the same service?
Any additional detail you could give would be helpful.

As far as I know they don’t go to RBS.

They have many vans/sprinters and keep sending new ones to the airport all the time.

And as for your concern about too many people using them, many take taxis/rent cars/have family or friends pick them up.
I go to israel a lot and always use them. They’re almost always available right away Smile

The only way to get to rbs is a private taxi.

Can I use American currency? What would the approximate cost be?

Thank you for helping an inexperienced Ima Wink

You can reserve an English speaking driver in advance (and maybe arrange beforehand to pay him with zelle or PayPal or USD cash).
The taxis at ben Gurion may accept dollars but I don't know for sure.

Here are some bet shemesh drivers
Mark Polevoy +972525786222
Sruli Jacobson +972526588630

Or the people you're going to visit may have recommendations.
Its about 200 shekel, give or take.

That's a good question!
Always ask around beforehand because the taxi drivers know that the tourists have no idea of what the normal rate is and they take advantage.

The train is best, the next cheapest is the bus (between 15-20 shekels), if you’re more than one person nesher will be way more expensive than a pre booked taxi that does airport runs.
In Israel they take shekel currency. A nice driver may take dollars but will probably charge you more as he will have to go and change it. Most most cannot even take zelle as zelle is only if you are an American with an American bank account so ppl in Israel don’t have access to zelle, there’s no zelle here. Card or cash is the regular way to pay but not all accept card.

We bought a train ticket from the ticket machine and paid via card. This was 3 years ago. Have things since changed?

But the train only runs certain times, no? They don't run late at night through the night, correct?

No the train is not 24 hours. There are times when the trains aren’t running, so either check before if it will be open that time, or post which time frame you’re talking about here, and ppl will let you know if the train is still running at that hour

the 485 bus runs all night from terminal 3 to a station outside the central bus station in yerushalim once an hour (you would need a rav kav or you can pay through the moovit app, no cash)
