We have a filter on the whole house and another special tap in the kitchen with another filter on it.
We keep a few pitchers of water in the fridge and we also have an ice maker built in to the freezer with a separate filter on that. We usually use reusable water bottles that we fill with ice cubes and the filtered tap water.
I do keep a pack of water bottles in the house for guests or workers, etc. in our spare fridge.

We don't have a filter and the water by us unfiltered isn't great. We live by our university and fill up water for the week from the coolers.

Without filter here but not on the east coast/NYC. So no bug issue.

This depends on where you live.
I drink NYC tap water but not Teaneck water.
