Bumping this up
For somebody who is constantly in debt and struggling and wants to learn and understand how to better manage money is this the way to go or can anybody recommend another financial counseling program.

Programs for finances are somewhat like diets. The basics of how to do a budget are pretty simple - there is no magic. The issue is actually following through and doing the hard stuff.

There are any number of ways to do this - bottom line is that the first thing any "program" will require is that you list ALL of your expenses down to the penny and list your actual net income. You might need to actually track every expenditure you make for a week or even more so that you actually put down every small amount you might otherwise forget about.

You then total up those expenses which are fixed - rent/mortgage, insurance etc. and then what remains is your income for other expenses which you may have more control over.

I don’t think they do one on one anymore.

There is a place called RSK they have really cute ads.

They don’t tell you what to do. They only give ideas and education so there is no one to hold you accountable to once the sessions are over.

RSK charge $600 and you need to be lucky to get a good coach

I went to RSK. They're amazing. They have phenomenal, trained coaches, and they successfully helped us make heads and tails of our finances. They're very discreet and you are considered a client, treated as if you're paying them top dollar. Highly recommended.

They charge $600 so that people follow through seriously, but they also have a scholarship program.
