Let’s say 50’ish miles north of NYC.
Or is most likely going to be too hot?
Considering a tent- but would that help if the humidity is like todays weather?

No, I would not. We had an expensive Sheva Brachos in an ac tent upstate in august and it was still not good enough.

No way to predict.

No.
Outdoor simchas are beautiful but you're too dependent on something completely out of your control.
I was not too far from where you are yesterday and found the humidity unbearable.
It's not like that every day but if it is imagine that weather plus a crowd sitting together in suits and sheitels.

Can you rent some of those large outdoor air conditioners?

Thanks all for your replies

So to be more specific it’s a kids birthday party.
Doing it outdoors gives us more space, but theoretically we can move it inside if it’s too hot/raining. But ideally I’d like to set up the eating outside with food stations indoor and entertainment indoor.

But, if its a no go from the beginning then I’d rather plan it elsewhere because it might get too crowded to have the tables set up for indoor eating too.

Any outdoor party is taking a chance because of the risk of rain. You are always going to need an alternative. Even a tent is risky; witness yesterday's storms. Late August in particular, you are at risk of rain from Atlantic hurricanes.

Temperature is less of an issue, TBH. Evenings are likely to cool into the low to mid 70s.

Can it be a sprinkler party?

Don’t think that would be a good idea for various reasons.
