Someone asked about buying a gift for my Bas Mitzvah girl.
She wants a camera.
I don't know their budget (but guessing not more than $150).
They're not going to get a refurbished model.

What do you recommend that I can suggest in that price range?

And - is the instax camera a good choice or too juvenile for Bas Mitzvah?

Go for a real digital camera

The Instax are cute but not so practical and they don’t take as many pics
Something like this they can use for years

It is impossible to find a decent camera for a decent price this year. For some reason they stopped making cameras. They are only making expensive professional cameras now.
The same camera that I thought was overpriced last year for $179 is now selling for $349. I have no idea what’s going on and why it’s so hard to find. There are some off brands available on Amazon with decent reviews but any name brand like canon will either be a very high price, or used or refurbished.
If your daughter is okay with any digital camera and doesn’t mind if it’s not a brand name then go for it! After searching for weeks we ended up with a factory refurbished camera for $149.

You realize that’s not a digital camera- right? No videos …

I got it for my 9 year old DD's birthday present. It does not take great quality pictures. It is like a Polaroid camera just modernized. Personally it is young for a bas mitzvah present.

That’s what I was wondering. Thank you.
It just looked so fun!
But I guess it’s a no.

OP, what did you end up getting? Are you happy with it? I'm also looking for a camera. Thanks.

We have one and we love it. When we have guests we take pictures, the kids love it. Its not so pratical and we have to keep buying "refills" and control kids about the usage because it costs money. So I say something like one pic a day.
