Grandma here, can I put a 3 month old into a Doona Car Seat thats already attached to the car (with no base, if that makes a difference), or does the baby have to be put into the Doona carseat and then attach the Doona car seat into the car?
Is either way fine?
I want to avoid baby squirming as I struggle to attach the car seat, so Id like to put the Doona car seat into car first.

I don't have a doona but my friend keeps hers buckled into the car all the time without a base. So I would assume it's fine

I don’t think so but maybe I’m not understanding the question

As far as my experience with the Doona goes- when it’s rear facing without the base you need to use the buckle going across the baby’s lap. It would be hard to get the baby in with the buckle already attached but if you can finagle it I don’t see why it would be a problem.

Yes.
This.
There are 2 open slots where the seatbelt gets put.

It worked.
First I locked the car's seatbelt over the Doona carseat to secure the carseat to the car, at my leisure, not while holding a squirmy baby.
Then when I was ready to leave, I put baby in (hours later).
Once baby was in, I fastened the Doona fasteners in 3 places
