I’m making a Bar mitzvah and this yearRosh Hashana starts Sunday night.
His bo bayom is Friday so Thursday night is the seuda.
My question is will people appreciate getting dressed and coming for a sit down meal or should I do just for family and close friends and his friends and a big dessert table for everyone else to come and go? It’s going to be very hectic for everyone because of shabbos and then Rosh Hashana.
Also he will be laining that shabbos and we will have a kiddush in shul.

So what is the best option to do?

They would have to get all dressed up for dessert also
My feeling is if im getting dressed up I hate to just stay for 5 min, may as well enjoy night out
Anyway with all the yt prep pp might enjoy a free dinner😉

If you were my good friend, I would love to celebrate your simcha and would organise myself accordingly. Do what you would like to do regardless of the timing. I think most of your good friends will make the effort.

My son had his Bar mitzva 3 days before rosh Hashanah as well. Whoever we invited was for the meal. Less people came that usual and we did the bar mitzva early so people don't get home too late. Was beautiful!!!

Thanks
We just can’t wash before shkia so can’t make it too early.
My husband said something about men going to slichos at night? I’m not a man so I have no clue.
