Anyone have experience with tutoring through zoom? In my neighborhood I can't get anyone decent or anyone at all. Would a professional experienced tutor compensate or rather go with just anybody as long as it's face to face?

I'm not following your question. I do a lot of tutoring by zoom. Are you looking for a job as a tutor or for a tutor for your child?

My dh tutors in person and via zoom. In person is preferable but he's able to work with most kids on zoom. You have to know your child.

Looking for a tutor and any advise regarding zoom tutoring. Like how effective is it or just try to find in person ( although she may not be as great or experienced)

Like anything else, it depends on the tutor and the connection they form with the student - as well as content knowledge and lots of other factors. In which subject does the student need tutoring?

Any child who is capable of focusing and won't get up in the middle can learn by zoom. BUT you need a tutor who can keep it interesting and motivating even when it's on screen. So it's worth taking an experienced zoom tutor. My opinion would be that a good tutor on zoom is worth more than a mediocre tutor in person.

If it's something like handwriting or music, it's much harder to do by zoom because you have to physically demonstrate. It's still possible just harder.

Price is between $40 and $80 per 45 minute session depending on the experience and education of the tutor.

sounds ok. Now how can I go about finding this?
most of the teachers and staff in my daughter school are probably not going to be willing to.

hi! I tutor via zoom. I think it really depends on the kid and the subjects.
During covid I worked with 3-5 year olds on zoom. some of them did great and others were quite a struggle to get focused. but now that we are back to in person learning, B"H, I still do some tutoring at night on zoom. mostly older kids - like science and math - P3 (which is board of ed paid for in NY)

I have a child that age, good luck getting your daughters to enjoy a tutor in the sumner. If she's just reviewing what was already learned you don't need a professional tutor get somone local and cheaper and give her extra money for extra incentives . My daughter school gives out reveiw summer Homework. I retaught my daughter long division because she didn't get it right in school. she's only motivated because she will be rewarded once she returns to school.
kria is reading the same tehillim 3x a week. reading comprehension requires a reading specialist and reqding and writing go together. get a specialist for those subjects

For in-person math, consider a center like Kumon or Mathnasium.

My son did virtual 1:1 schooling for several months. The teacher was great, but it was challenging. My son would often turn off or walk away from the computer if the work was a little difficult. It's significantly harder for the child too remain on task. We were so grateful when we were able to resume to in person.

The platform I use has a whiteboard, eraser, video, microphone, etc.. it must be very effective if they have that many students and tutors on there.

Pear, now imagine how the tutor feels when they try getting a child to practice math or reading and the child randomly signs on and off the session or starts running away from computer and they need to teach them. Very frustrating. Sometimes it makes me question my teaching style.
