Practical things
Once got some cheap items from a very good friend of mine (think hooks with plastic suction, plastic brushes for washing dishes and flip-flops)
best thing ever Smile I still use the hooks and flip flops (in the mikvah)
Always make sure to include an exchange note.

Things that are useful that I wouldn't buy myself:
Digital picture frame, kitchen tools that make things easier (instapot, big crockpot, dishwashers, yogurt maker, veggie cutter etc), great towels, yummy food treat, a new robe (make sure they can exchange if necessary), a purse (again, exchangeable), a new book I wanted, a good fan for my kitchen

When we got married a relative gave us a good amount of money and said, "Pick out a nice piece of Jewish artwork for your home." We chose a beautiful painting that still hangs proudly in our dining room to this day. If she had just given us cash we probably would not have spent it on art, and if she had chosen the artwork herself it might not have been to our taste. But giving us money specifically to use for art was a gift that we're still enjoying to this day.

My swaddelbee Megabee blanket that I bought myself back in May as a gift for a specific thing... I had no idea how much I would love that thing. I am thankful to myself for it every night.

I heard a cool idea for gift giving: give based on the person's love language.

For those that like quality time, give experience type gifts like a museum pass or chocolate tasting.

For those that like acts of service, get practical things like cleaning help/takeout or things that ppl above posted like a vacuum.

For those that like words of affection, get inspirational type things like journals or those stone thingies - and make sure the note is amazing.

For those that like physical touch, give things like a massage or other spa experience.

And for those that like receiving gifts, make sure it's luxurious or special and presented well.
