I will iyH be teaching high school come fall. I am tall and about 100 pounds overweight. I wear a size 3x. My cotton knit tops-over-shells and elastic waist skirts are obviously not going to cut it for the classroom. How can I dress in a way that is tailored and professional? I really appreciate any suggestions, including online shopping links

There's a store in Boro Park, My Dream Dress, that sells plus size clothing.
It's worth the trip. They have classy tops and dresses that you can get.

I like to buy tops and stuff on eloquii.com
Lots of fun stuff, and good sales. I teach high school, and last year just about my entire wardrobe was from there.

Monsey has a plus size shop called Beautiful. It might be spelled differently. My SIL loves their things and their prices.

Thank you so much. But what look am I looking for? Blazers make me feel and look huge . I need tunic lengths, but the open cardigans also are not flattering and many look sloppy.

The pleated skirt from apparalel looks very flattering on people. They also have a sweater that looks really nice with it.

I teach hs and I wear elastic waist skirts (the Jewish lined slinky skirts that are shorter, not ankle length). I wear them with cute flats and they look fine. For tops I do wear a lot of open cardigans with plain top underneath, and a necklace. Tunics don’t look good on me, but if they look good on you, then go for it!

Our menaheles is quite overweight and she wears the same kind of skirts as me, but pairs them with cute tops from BeautiFull.

Can you tell me more about this service? That's sounds like great advice for a reasonable price.

I also teach and am plus size.

I wear straight black/navy/grey skirts and a lot of tunics/tops. During the winter I wear cardigans or open cardigan vests. I try to find tops with a soft attached belt because that's what looks better on me so wrap sweaters or knit tops with an attached knit belt. I get most of my skirts from https://www.riccifashions.com/ - they're flattering on and wash very well.

It really depends on your body shape to know what would be flattering on you. Other posters mentioned a pleated skirt, personally pleated skirts make me look much bigger so I don't wear them. Knowing your shape is key to shopping plus size, it's worth it to google body shapes and what styles flatter those shapes to help you get an idea.

Not sure the rules about promoting others’ businesses:
Here’s her email tsippy@goldsparkstyling.com
She’s located in Israel, so be warned about the time difference. Her expertise is teaching plus sized women how to dress well according to their body shape. She was really nice and friendly! So helpful!! She basically helped me revamp my closet.

Another vote for Chico's...they have great jackets, tunics, ruanna's and also great accessories that pull the outfits together. Then go with basic color skirts and shells as the foundation for each outfit.

I'm a 3X with a protruding stomach and the Dressbarn popover shirts look really nice on me with a sleeveless shell underneath. I wear them over straight skirts and they cover all my problem areas.
