I think they're starting maariv as early as possible so they don't get home too late. I plan on drinking water as soon as I can and then prepping food so he can walk in, make havdalag and we can eat (and then I have to go out to mikvah 😫)

My husband walked in exactly at zman- hadn't even finished preparing the food yet, and made havdalah right away. No waiting for him at all

Why?

Eat without havdalah: problem

Make your own havdalah and eat: no problem.

If you are going to eat, why not make your own havdalah?

We were told that it's not a problem for women to eat before havdala. I grew up doing this as well & we do like this at my in laws as well.

I am a nursing mom and fasted ok but started feeling quite ill in the last half hour. I made it to the earliest zman and then chugged down a ton of water and a slice of cake. The thought of grape juice or coffee to make havdala was nauseating. Under the circumstances I think what I did was not a problem.
