Girls wear long sleeves and spend just as much time playing outside. No one thinks it's such a terrible thing, right? This is definitely, definitely not something worth upsetting your baby over.

How old is you DD?
Is this normal for such a young age to determine if it's appropriate to wear short or long? He is only 4 |
He is too young to know but it’s not awful if he sweats. If he were very uncomfortable he would have told you
When you run out of the long sleeves you can tell „sorry sweety there is nothing left 🤷🏻♀️„

Choose your battles. You probably wear long sleeves, why shouldn't your ds? They're better sunburn protection than sunblock. L/S shirts in light colors and lightweight fabrics are the recommended garments for outdoor summer activities. If he discovers that he's too hot, he'll soon change his tune. And if he's not too hot, what's the problem?
It's not a "yehareg ve'al yaavor" like refusing to sit in a child restraint aka a car seat.
