I'm a single mother with a struggling teen. My work money barely covers the basics and my rent is past due. So much of my money goes to help my child and I can't make ends meet. Is there anyone out here that would have connections to someone that can offer financial aid?? If at least my rent would be paid up for a few months that would take some pressure off me...

I would appreciate any connections where I can reach out for help. Thanks!

Can you describe the struggle a bit? And what state you're in?

I'm in NY. Struggle is twofold. My job isn't bringing in enough money at this time, hopefully eventually it will. Rent, credit card debt, daily living expenses has become a real struggle. At this point my child is struggling emotionally and with yiddishkeit. Getting the right people to help cost a lot of money... giving the child the appropriate help, tools and whatever else needed to help get through this phase is costing tons.... No child support from father whatsoever
.... Whatever money I make either gets spent on this kid, or paying min credit card fees that goes more for interest than the actual debt... For now I need a miracle... I'd need help with rent a couple of months and some money to pay up debt so I can start getting a grip and use my daily money for my daily expenses without falling backwards every day. Just this child's monthly expenses is enough to eat up my income...

Are you members of a shul that you could speak to the Rav? Most shuls have a discretionary fund for this.

What kind of needs does your kid have? Can anything be covered by insurance? I know we all want "private specialists" for our family but often they are no more successful than insurance covered practitioners. In my personal experience we had great luck with our insurance covered professionals...

Please reach out to Kesher Nafshi. They have a lot of resources and knowledge for struggling teens and they have support groups which are so helpful. It's possible they will have some kind of financial advice also.

I did. They help you get paid financial coaching. It isn't the coaching I need at this point. I need more $$$ for a few months to help me get through this phase. With each day that I can't cover my expenses, I'm falling into a bigger pit thats harder to get out of. They said they might help with food which so far I didn't get anything from them... I did fill out an application though.

Ok, I'll look into that. I heard some of their speeches, I'll see if they have any financial resources for me...

Is it just therapy costs they help with? Most of the therapy is covered under insurance. Problem is, that I'm not meeting my personal expenses like rent and bills because child has other personal weekly expenses that aren't met through insurance. Then, I'm stuck because I can't cover my expenses. I don't want my child to be lost because I had no money to provide for him. This is pikuach nefesh to save my child. But I don't think my landlord, con Edison or you name it... care about that...

I completely understand. These kids drain you financially and emotionally. There are so many extra expenses that we don't have with our other kids. I hope things get easier soon.

Yes, I try that. So if I make an extra few dollars it helps me pay min dues on my credit cards and not enough to swing it. I need a resource of where I can get a lump sum to get back on my feet. Wonder if such an organization exists...
