At what age did you transition your kid from a crib to a toddler bed/bed with rail?

Most of mine started climbing out around 2 so I transitioned. But I would have kept them in longer if I could have.

No paci, no crib. So far my kids have transitioned at age 4.

When they climb out of the crib. Or are toilet trained. Whichever comes first.

2.5, directly to regular bed when baby started to be able to climb out of the crib and expressed a preference for the bed which was already in the room. We tried a rail for a few days but she would curl up against it possibly getting stuck between the rail and the mattress so it appeared more hazardous than not having a rail at all.

We tried at 2.5 but she didn't stay and it was getting annoying. So we put her back in the crib...she is 3 now.
She has been toilet trained since 2.5 but not at night.
It's not right for me to take off the diaper if she won't climb out of the crib in middle of the night to go to the bathroom...
