Can I name my child the same name as my husband’s child from previous marriage? It’s name of someone close to me..

I think it would be weird for your husband to have two kids with the same name. Unless it's an ex-husband, it's his child as well. I don't know about the halachic angle, but it doesn't seem right.

I wouldn’t. Think of the other child’s feelings. Their father gets remarried and names a new child their name? As if there aren’t enough struggles in blended families

Besides for being weird, it could possibly even be not allowed, for a father to have two children with the same name. They'll also be brothers/sisters, even if just half. Ask a Rav.

No, no, never, never
Your stepkids will resent their father forever .
You will kill their relationship with him and with you.
Doesn't your husband think it's a bad idea?

100% no.
Your husband cannot have two children with the same name.
I know this because I have a friend who became a baalat teshuva on her own, at a young age. She somehow found out that her sister had the same Hebrew name as her. She had to change her name.

I have a friend who got divorced. When her father remarried, he married a woman that had two daughters, one with her name and one with the name of her sister. Weird "coincidence", but she was SO offended - and that wasn't anything he had done on purpose.
I think wanting to name your child this same name is very insensitive to the child from the previous marriage.
You don't even have to ask a Rav. Don't do it.
