Dc needs it a few times a day. I don't have a shabbos timer.
Would it break it to leave it on?

Maybe ask a rav what to do. I'm sure this isn't such an unusual situation.

Ask your rabbi. Mine said I can use it (normally) for our (then) year old. He didn’t even have a diagnosis of asthma but he was wheezing (rsv)

My pediatrician told me not to do it as it can cause a fire if left on for too many hours.

My daughter had asthma. We had her turn it on and off & our Rav said that if she refuses, we can turn it on and off. I wouldn't leave it going all shabbos. It gets overheated.

This. We had my child turn it on. If they couldn't, we turned it on with a shinui.

I was told to have the child turn it on. Ask a Dayan.

If you can get .a timer, that's best. And my rav said that if we need it sooner than it's scheduled to go on, we can just move the timer ahead or move the pegs or whatever, and that's a gramma. If not, yes, kid turns on or a shinui.

Buy a few timers so that you have them in your home in case you need them.
My husband needed it once on shabbat (asthma and was sick with bronchitis) and was told to put it on a timer.

I'm not op but appreciate all the responses. Since my child has asthma and it is not something that can be put in a timer we never thought of putting on a timer and we just put it put it on with our thumbs or something or have the child do it did not think that moving around the timer is a better option thank you

I unpacked it from the box, plugged it in and turned it on/off as necessary on shabbos when I needed. Why would I make hatzlah come and do it for me if I can do it myself?

Everyone has to follow their own posek. Many hold that way, but not all. It’s not something everyone necessarily wants to decide on their own.

Lol I had it a while ago but then someone else joined and chose it and it jarred me every time I logged on and saw my picture with someone else’s words so I switched it. I have that a little now with zaq bc they’re similar but not identical, plus she’s far more erudite than I am.😊
Thanks for noticing!

For a shinui, I was told best is to turn it on with your nose or chin, and if that's not practical, then with an elbow.

I was told it can be turned on and off normally cause it goes into the category of pikuach nefesh. But you need to ask your own.
