Pre-covid was very safe even at night but I havent been there this season so dont know whats going on now. Perhaps imamothers from Williamsburg can tell us if its safe now.

prospect park at park circle is nice watching the ducks and geese on the lake. entrance is on Prospect SW and Ocean parkway.
Bring along a ball. or make a picnic.

a three minute walk from the lake is Vanderbilt playground 170 West Drive- address for GPS
fantastic climibing equipment -even adults enjoy!!!!

No. There are too many places for toddlers to disappear or escape from. I also would not bring a kid over the age of 5 there in July and august.

Here is my list:

The library - there are so many big ones like by prospect park and bryant park they also have many free events
Holtsville Ecology Center
Queens County Farm Museum
Croton Gorge Park
Marine Park nature walk
The Poconos free waterfall hikes - Dingman falls easy walk to the falls
Farmers Market - plenty around the summer time and very interesting to walk through
Brooklyn Botanical Gardens
The Aquarium free if you reserve on Monday at 3PM online.
The Bronx Zoo free if you reserve on Monday online
The coney island boardwalk and beach or any beach - go early morning before 8am not too many people your kids can go in the water and collect seashells and feed the seagulls.

Prospect Park has a nice sprinkler thing near the ice skating rink during the summer.

Also-- look on the Brooklyn public library website for different programs at different branches..when my kids were younger and I had off work, sometimes I brought them to a toddler program. We once went to a Lego robot building activity when they were a little older.
