I have an LG that I got about 6 months ago. Very happy so far. I do wipe the gasket down after washes, and leave the door and detergent tray open. I run a cleaning cycle with a tablet every couple of months too.

Any other posters care to chime in?
I’m feeling very stuck.
Front loaders: mold issues
Top loaders: not as delicate on clothing and for some reason store does not recommend them

I have whirlpool front loader.
Love it. - I love the fact that you don’t have the spinner in middle of the machine.
I keep the door slightly open to avoid mold issues

Ive had a few different brands over the years snd have never had a mold issue ever. I just always keep the door open when not using it.

You must keep the door open. I actually eave it open all the time when not using it so I dont have to think/worry. I also try to not let loads sit in the machine but I wouldnt want that in a top loader either.
I also clean it. I try to do it monthly or whenever it starts to smell. I didnt like the tide brand cleaner- stunk up the whole area. I use washer magic now.

front loader: mold issues
I pour borax into each bottle of detergent (not all supermarkets have it. I often buy it on amazon) and shake it well.
borax kills mold, mildew, insects etc. (remember, borax is not boric acid)
(before I did this, my clothes smelled)
I do keep the door to my front loader closed, otherwise I can hardly enter my laundry room.

Me too. Never had an issue with mold because I always leave the door open as per the instructions.

Can you elaborate on the borax? It doesn't ruin the clothing? Because you say you pour it into every bottle of detergent. How much do you pour in?

Same. I have one for over 8 years (not my first one) and have never had a mold issue with it. You can dry it out in between loads, and I never close the door unless I’m running a load.
I have a duet washer and dryer, which I think is made by whirlpool.
