My DD was fitted for contact lenses. The dr checked the number on eyeglasses and prescribed the same. I always thought that lenses is lower number. Please share your experience. Thank you

Mine are lower.
I have astigmatism so could be that's why...

If the prescription is quite low, the glasses and lenses may be the same or similar number. But if the prescription is moderate or high, it should not be the same number- the glasses prescription is normally higher than the lenses prescription. As an example, my glasses prescription is 725 and my lenses prescription is 650. But obviously that's a pretty high prescription. A low prescription should have less of a difference between glasses and lenses.

My glasses are higher (more negative) than my lenses. (one is one point higher and the other is .75 higher), but I don't know if this applies to everyone. so for example glasses are -5.25 in one eye and -4.5 in the other eye and lenses are -4.25 and -3.75 in the other eye. Also I don't know if astigmatism affects it?

My contacts are about -6 or -7 and my glasses are -7 or -8 approximately. No astigmatism. Been wearing contact lenses for years and it has always been this way

Mine are about .25 apart
-4.25 vs -4.50
I think.
My daughter has astigmatism and hers is more apart. I was surprised

My eye doctor said that my glasses RX is always half a point higher than my lenses RX.

I priced mine around and optical eyeland in lkwd was cheapest for me (maybe a NY or online place would be cheaper but I needed someplace that takes Jersey care)
In general they’re really well priced

I was told below 4 or 4.5 (don't remember) its the same and lower for lenses when it comes to higher prescriptions

I went to a few doctors, but the lenses they gave me didn't work out.
I ended up traveling to Boro Park and seeing Dr. Moskowitz at the Lens Center. He was great!
The company of my contacts is Bausch + Lomb ULTRA for Astigmatism and you can get them anywhere. (I use Costco!)
