"uphat" and "downhat": Someone referenced these terms as hashkafic/lifestyle differences in another thread. Can someone please explain what each one indicates?

Uphat is heimish/ Chassidish
Bentdown hat is litvish/yeshivish/jpf

JPF don't usually wear a hat unless they're well over 80 and grew up in an age when all men wore hats.

I don’t find that to be true. I know many 30/40 year olds who consider themselves jpf and wear a hat on shabbos

Probably because they attended a yeshivish yeshiva in their gap year, not because they were brought up that way.
