I know it’s early for sukkos, but we are building our new sukka for the first time and I want it to be beautiful.
Accpeting all advice, from kids projects they can do (starting now!) to lighting to any other decor ideas. And on as low of a budget possible

Check out chinuch.org and waldereducation.org and search pinterest
I used to do a gorgeous craft where you print images on transparent copy paper and color with permanent markers so it's like stained glass. I can email you the images.

To keep the kids busy, print a bunch of sukkos scenes, cut, color and then glue onto pretty metallic paper for the base/border. Laminate. Hole punch. Tie and hang with satin ribbons.

buy a pack of blank CDs. kids can decorate them now with stick on jewels, Sharpies etc, then hang via fisherman string (virtually invisible) at different lengths through succah. looks fab
look around dollar store....fake leaves etc.
small vases filled with colored water look effective on table

Very important to hang up your kids' handiwork as-is. Even if they are not perfect. A scribbled picture of half-a-succa with purple schach is worth more than a fancy shiny decoration that the parents did most of to ensure it looks perfect
