I used to go to makeup counters at department stores in Manhattan (Saks, Bloomingdales) - like Bobbi Brown, Mac, etc.
They'd do my makeup for free, but I had to buy 3 products (like eye shadow, lip pencil, mascara).
A lot of them are very talented, and I'd pick up great ideas.
I don't know if Macy's at Kings Plaza has a setup like that.

Just to clarify - they do a full face makeover. You just have to buy 3 products. They may have changed the rules in the past couple of years. They give you great ideas about what colors suit you and what can enhance your features.

Try Cosemtics Scenter on 13th Ave and mid-40s (don't know exact street, sorry)

The makeup they sell is not very expensive

I don't have experience with them recommending colors, I usually just buy what I know I need, but AFAIK the ladies behind the counter are knowledgeable about matching colors, etc.

If you are looking for good drugstore options there are plenty these days that are just as good as high end. Please post what products you need and I will send options.

What's your skin tone. I can tell you what to buy from CVS. There are excellent inexpensive options.
