What age is the norm to understand and verbalize opposites? Eg. Like the concept of upside down. If something is the wrong way, for the kid to say it's upside down. Not the actual word of opposite.

Just saying that in Hebrew הפוך means upside-down, backwards, inside out, Can't Believe It LOL you have to keep going זה הפוך! לא! לכיוון השני! Basically no the other way until they get it right or you get frustrated and go show them how to do it correctly Can't Believe It LOL

Many kids understand it younger but it's totally normal not to understand this abstract concept till 4.

A toddler should generally be able to understand that something upside-down is the wrong way, though not necessarily verbalize it. E.g. if daddy puts on his hat upside down, they would likely laugh or less likely show discomfort/upset, either way indicating that they know the difference between right side up and upside down.

Generally verbalizing would come after some experiences - the adults say oh that's so silly daddy's hat is upside down, or you're so silly putting your [whatever it is] upside down, and depending how much the adults expose them to that language, they'd start using it too.
