I’m making a small bar mitzvah in three days. I know it’s a crazy time.
I planned on making a small bar mitzvah but I’m getting nervous because no one is giving me a definite answer if they are coming.
I’m afraid that I won’t have any people and it will look pitiful.
There are neighbors that I wanted to have but I didn’t invite because if I invite one then I need to invite 20.
Now I regret not inviting more people.
I didn’t send invitations out just WhatsApp and text and printed up a few simcha announcements on paper.
Is it funny if I invite more people now?
Is it insulting?

No it’s not insulting
You can invite whoever you want from the neighbors

By the way WhatsApp, text and simcha announcements are not considered invitations. You need to call or send personal invitations by mail.

She does not need to. Maybe you like to. But don’t push your expectations onto someone else.

OP, I think it’s great you did invitations that way. No need to spend all that money when sending texts or emails does the trick.

She doesn’t need to but if anyone texts me an invite I assume it’s a blast text and ignore, unless it’s my sibling.

This. I would still call neighbors and invite. If a neighbor invited me today I would go stop in and gift as well. I would not be surprised to be told last minute for a bar mitzvah and would assume I’m invited to stop by vs sit down.

It really depends where it’s coming from.
In my neighborhood it’s normal to get invites like this.
I do send a personal message with it.

Also meant to write that we were supposed to have it in the house with only family and boys friends but last week switched it to a hall so now could invite more people but can’t invite a lot.
And had no time to print invitations.

That’s how many people I know invite.
Has completely become common in many circles, especially if it’s a less formal affair.

I think it’s fine, and actually nice that it makes life a little easier and less expensive for the person making the simcha.
