Books by Avi are generally good. They're mostly historical fiction.
Also books by Mary Downing Hahn. She writes a lot of ghost stories.
Tom's Midnight Garden and books by Elizabeth Enright are great. And Frances Hodgeson Burnett.

My son loves the Mysterious Benedict Society.
Also the Rush Revere series was phenomenal. Very entertaining and educational.
Both were recommended on here. Thank you
