DH and I have this "deal." He does the cooking, I wash dishes, put things away, etc.
OP, would your husband cook?

If you can, buy. I live in LA and takeout is RIDICULOUSLY expensive, so I have to cook.

If I'm cooking anyway, I triple the recipe and freeze so that I only have to cook 1 time to get enough for 3 meals.

We basically have the same menu for R"H, 1st days of Sukkos, and 2nd days of Sukkos, so it works out.

I'm buying cake because I hate baking. So messy.

GOOD LUCK and make sure to reward yourself for doing something you hate!

Liking's not enough. And I do like to cook and bake. But this is great road map for those who don't.

It’s funny when I was younger I loved cooking , now I am older married 15 years … and I got sooo burned out from doing it I actually hate it & get major anxiety from it
But more or less I have no choice , kids are picky & like only my food/ take out is expensive/ and where I live local take out is gross
But I do order some catered food for YT

It’s not so much the actual cooking that I hate as much as

Planning menus, thinking of ideas
Shopping and making sure I have all the ingredients in the house
Washing and cleaning after the cooking
Being on my feet
Knowing a lot will go to waste
Catering to everyone else’s likes
Figuring out how to freeze and warm stuff
The endlessness and thanklessness of it

Just the stress of it all.

So I stand by my offer for all of you. I'll do the cooking which I love, and I happen to be a great cook at least according to my husband, and y'all send me cleaning crews to clean my kitchen after.

I don’t like cooking because I’d rather be doing other things instead.
I don’t know how to be neat and clean and I end up making a big mess.
I’m handicapped when it comes to cleaning up.
One of the reasons I don’t like to cook is because often my kids won’t eat things I prepared for them. They are picky and each have their own issues with food. My husband can be like that too sometimes.
One won’t eat any chicken or meat.
One won’t eat any rice or pasta.
No one wants anything with cooked or baked fruit or fried onions.
No potatoes unless it’s kugel
No chicken on the bone- only dh will eat that
One won’t touch Chulent.
Dh won’t eat anything hot and spicy while kids like that
The list goes on and on …

Sometimes I stand on my feet for hours and most people won’t eat the food I worked so hard to make.
That’s the main reason I dislike it.

I much like cooking but in your shoes I most certainly would be divorced from husband and kids and hate cooking with a passion as picky eating habits are not accepted in this house.
I run a household and not a restaurant.

This resonates with me.
I actually really like cooking, but only when it is stress free.
The sheer of volume of food that needs to be prepared for Yom tov is anxiety inducing.

One thing I do have is an extremely appreciative family and cooking them beautiful food is my gift to them.

Hello ladies
there is chicken and potatoes
meat and quinoa
meat and rice
and have one of your kids make a side dish of broccoli or sugar snap peas or cauliflower

and you can make two types of soup in huge pots and freeze

and you could make huge pots of compote.

I always joke that I would like to have someone wear my apron. Maybe one day I'll have a lot of money to afford a personal cook.

I don't like cooking. I like to bake. It's clear cut recipes. I can clean up the kitchen while food is in the oven. But alright I try my best.

Why would you think you're alone, OP? Does everyone like playing ping pong, foreign travel, or ice skating? Why would cooking be any different from any other activity? The fact that many of us have no choice but to cook doesn't make it any more attractive. IMO it makes it less so. I loved cooking when I was single and could survive if I wanted to on cereal, milk, cheese, and potato chips. Once I was married and had to cook, all the shine went out of the business.
