Recently my 1 yr old has started eating a lot more (I think that he eats adult size portions! ) I took him today to be weighed and they said that he did not put on a lot of weight in fact he went down a little on the graph.
She asked me how many dirty diapers he has and when I said about 2-4 a day, she said I should take him to a dr, since sometimes if a kid eats a lot and doesn't gain much weight it could be a problem.
I am going to monitor what he eats and how many dirty diapers he has over the next couple of weeks or so, and then take him to the doctor.
However, I was wondering if anyone has any experience/advice to share.
By the way, he is a very active boy (he makes me tired just watching him! )

I would think that's the reason! My ds also went down on the charts at this past visit. My doc. said it's okay, as long as he doesn't go further down next visit. (he gained 2 lbs from age 4 months to 6 months- he was in the 50th%ile, now he's in the 25th) My son is younger than yours, but he also has gotten much more "active" in the past two months.

esp if he's just learned to walk,e tc, I would imagine it's because of his activity level. but of course, check out w/ dr

My son is also like this. Sometimes he eats a ton, but sometimes less. He keeps growing taller, but has not gained much weight. He is kind of long and thin. I have discussed it with my Dr and he does nto seem to be concerned.
