I'm OK with spending more to get something of a nice quality from a Jewish brand. Non-Jewish brand is OK too, but what I mean is I'm going for a higher quality look and would rather just have something nice already than continuing to aim and miss at Amazon or Shein where I have tried a number of things and wasn't satisfied. I can't spend a fortune but I'm willing to forego my usual bargain basement instincts.
I have a few different tops that would go with a nice black skirt, but my old ones are worn out and just don't look great anymore. They also weren't so dressy in the first place and I feel like a better skirt would really take the whole outfit up a nice level.
Specifications:
- Not shiny
- Needs to be solidly below knee length. I really don't like having to be conscious of my skirt every time I sit down and stand up, I really don't like buying something that seemed OK in the store and then finding myself tugging it down when I sit...
- I need to be comfortable, not too straight
- No slit or if it has a slit it has to still work if I sew in a pleat
Not sure exactly what size to look for because every brand runs differently and it has been that long since I have bought a new skirt that fit well. Some brands medium fits but most brands I think large; in numbers maybe 10 but also sometimes 8 or 12. (the skirt I'm wearing now is 4 but that's from 10 years ago and my how the world has changed.)
Extra credit if it's machine washable.

Where are you located?
Do you want to go in to a store or online?

Prefer online but could possibly get to a store in Brooklyn, Queens, or 5 towns.

Look for chiffon. I got one at macys but I’m pretty sure it only came in plus size.

Hi op,
I live in Lakewood so I can't tell you exactly where to go for this, but each of the many stores I shopped in this season (I have a teenage daughter ) have many versions of exactly what you are describing. I bought a skirt by Sam Fashion- I think it was $59- so not Amazon prices but not $$$ either. It's really pretty- elegant and soft- and really upgrades whatever top I wear with it..hoping your local stores would have the same..
