I have a dependent adult child who we've been supporting with everything from day one.
This adult child, approaching 30, has never worked and its becoming clear that despite years of therapy of all kinds, theyre not supporting themselves anytime soon. Theyre unable to work because of emotional issues.
Were thinking it may not be our responsibility to support forever.
Which Brooklyn organization(s) are easy to deal with and super effective at getting this adult child approved for support (everything outside of housing, because were ok with providing housing)?
Whatever advice and leads anyone offers, will be appreciated.

Never heard of this unless there are significant issues like developmental disabilities.
Why couldnt he support himself? At any job?

JUF has a day hab program as well as a vocational program but the child may have to qualify for a medicaid waiver-- https://jufny.org/program/day-habilitation/
Here is a list of more agencies that can help you find the right kind of services-- https://www.beineinu.org/servi.....grams

Start with calling the Ohel access line 800-603-Ohel(6435) - and see if they can provide some guidance.
Also, look into https://access.nyc.gov/ to see which government programs your child would qualify for and what needs to be done to apply for them

If this person did not have a documented disability prior to age 18 then I don't think you'll have much luck with disability related resources however NYC has plenty of resources for simply low income people like medicaid, foodstamps etc. I would call yeled.
