At what point do you turn on the heat in the fall/winter?

When my house is so cold that I shiver.

Our heating has been on for about a month already just for nights. It’s sunny during the day, so it’s warmer. If I’m cold, I turn on the heat during the day, too.

When it's cold.
We are still running the AC all day long over here. The heat might get turned on in January. If it's cold enough.

When it's cold. We have ours click on from midnight till 6am right now.
I have kids who are bad at keeping a blanket on so I'd rather the house be warm enough than they wakw me to tuck them back on

We didn’t have the air on yesterday, but we also didn’t have the heat on. It’s cool enough outside that my house is cool but not cold.

When the nights start getting cold. I turn on the thermostat and let that take control. I've already done that for this year (NY resident). Obviously early in the season it only turns on minimally, so I don't see why the household needs to bear with the cold mornings even if it warms up later in the day.
I do have the temperature setting set to a lower degree than I do in the winter though. I raise that as the real winter sets in.

Very different than in america, for sure.
