I think you have to find out from your insurance company. I had a lot of trouble with this and in the end they will only cover in NY for me, but it depends on which UHC plan you have. There are at least 3 different plans.

To clarify, they will cover some Doctor's in NJ but I have to pay a co-pay (which is cheaper than gas and tolls to NYC). But if you need this for a delivery you have to find out if they will cover any hospital in NJ

Is there some reason why you aren't making the immediate change because a move to a different state is generally one that enables you to get health insurance outside of the enrollment periods.

Getting signed up for new insurance in New Jersey should be your top priority tomorrow.

In general insurance plans are only able to be used within specific states because medical providers don't have contracts with insurance companies out of state. This is true of most private insurance companies as well.

Go to CHEMED. They can get you emergency Medicaid or see you themselves with a sliding scale.

I used chemed for the last 2 months of a pregnancy and they took my UHC. You dont need to do the sliding scale..
And delivered in monmouth then and also was fine, ny insurance..

NY Medicaid? Very interesting. I didn’t think you could do that.

They bill through an urgent care that theyre affiliated with in ny. Or they consider themselves a mini hospital, not sure,0 otherwise I wouldn't reccomend chemed.

But its the same way I use a specialist in delaware that taked my nj insurance.

Who does the delivery? A resident in Monmouth?

If you arrive at a hospital ready to give birth they must treat you but you would have whoever is on staff for the delivery.

It is no different than any other emergency in which any hospital has to treat you but will release as soon as you are medically stable.

I am not understanding why you don't switch to a NJ plan so that you can select your doctor and have a true delivery plan with that doctor.
