I am sorry if anyone feels "disrespected."
In no way do we want to cause anyone any pain!
At the same time it's a red flag whenever someone tries to control others' behavior "for their own good" like cautioning someone to delete their posts "for their own good" sounds vaguely threatening and/or passive aggressive.
While I am sure this is not your intent we ask our rovs and mentors for guidance and look to ourselves to improve our own behavior rather than point a finger at others. We can really only improve ourselves, be DLKZ, fargin others as we wish to be forgiven; and acknowledge we are all of us works in progress.
Wishing everyone much hatzlocha happiness and health in the New Year!

Yes, Dafodill, I feel disrespected and pained to read about a community discussed online as "wierd" and "tacky." These statements are gossip and against the rules of this site. I do believe a post that mocks and disparages a community should be removed (again, it's against site rules to disparage a specific community), and that it's in everyone's best interest. I have no intention of threatening anyone, and my posts are direct, not passive aggressive. Thank you for your good wishes for the new year, I wish you the same. I will be exiting this thread now.

The event is a Kdushat Zion event. A grassroot charedi organization that is trying to bring ahavat eretz yisrael into mainstream israeli charidism. Kdushat zion invited the afula community to their chol hamoed event as a welcome gesture. They would have shown up at airport to welcome them when the nbn flights landed there but were encouraged not to. Nor was it practical since the families ended up on multiple flights. The guy who put the post up on facebook is involved in kdushat zion and probably thought he was appealing to the anglo crowd when he wrote the post. He probably didnt even realize that he stepped right onto a landmine.

That makes sense. It just sounds confusing though because it sounds like an event to introduce people to the afula community and find cheaper housing based on his text but it's really am upscale fundraiser event for an organization that wasn't mentioned in the text at all.

So the money is going to this organization? Sounds like it was a donation to the afula community. The organization sounded like the sidekick not the main organizer.

The flyer doesn't imply that the donations are going to Afula any more than Ramot Bet, Our Chadash, Menorat Hamaor or Magen Avot.
The donations are going to Kdushat Zion.
