Generally one yartzeit candle.
If one says yizkar, they light more.

One at home, but Dh usually lights another yartzeit candle in shul.

People light yartzeit candles even if their relatives are alive?

The first yartzeit candle is for Y"K, irregardless of relatives.

By us, we light a yahrzheit candle for Yom Kippur in order to have the flame after. But if you're lighting anyway for a relative, you don't need another one.

Some people don’t use the yartzeit candle for havdala and use another candle for it.

I was told I shouldn’t use my yartzheit candle for anything else, so there will be one for my father, a”h, one for Yom Kippur, and one per person as needed for anyone staying here who needs.
Also, the yartzheit candle only has one wick, I believe you need two for havdala.

Correct.
We don't use the Y"K yartzeit candle for anything else. Not for havdallah that some people mention here.

You light yartzeit for anyone who needs it (ie parents passed away). So my parents light 4 because none of my grandparents are alive.
You light 1 so you can light the havdala candle from it (you need a "rested" flame).
There are also those who light 1 per married man staying there. Some men do this one in shul I believe.
BH no yizkor for us but we will have 2 candles lit here for #1 and #2.

We light one for Yom Kippur,
One for neshomos
But you're supposed to keep one in the bedroom I think, to remind you not to have relations Yom Kippur. Am I right?
We don't anymore because the flickering of the flame disturbed us a lot. We just remember not to dtd that night, it's not that hard to remember
And we use one for havdala. I put 2 matches inside to light, hold them together so it's 2 wicks.

In the end our candle for havdala died out and we had no other flame to use for havdala. Tried neighbors and nada. So we used the yizkor light. Was that ok?

You light the havdala lecht from the burning Wick of the yahrzeit lecht.

Either way, I never heard of leaving/having a candle in the bedroom.
