has anyone read that article in ami magazine that came out about the idiot who sneaked with the Christian tours in to the Arab controlled areas like Ramallah and jeninn???
I cant believe an adult thought this would be a good idea to do, and then they publish how he snuck in and what happened. they put so many people at risk.
There was so much wrong with it I still can't believe it!

I did not see the article, but that sounds horribly irresponsible. Jews are brutally attacked and murdered in those places.

It does sound irresponsible... But I can also tell you that a tourist whom doesn't look Jewish can easily enter Ramallah, Jenin, Shechem, Jericho... And they're welcome there. Tourists have a great time.

If the article writer went incognito, then any danger he described is exaggerated. (Though the PA did just experience a civil war, and I can't imagine wanting to visit, with tensions as high as they are between Fatah and everyone else. )

I know religious Jews whom have visited PA cities - mostly American tourists looking for kicks. Also some tour guiding students, and one friend who was dating an Arab at the time (thank G-d, not anymore!!).

I cannot imagine, under any circumstances, wanting to disguise my Jewish identity so I can go enjoy Arab culture. It's nauseating.

Years ago, during the second intifada, my parents got lost and accidentally drove through Shechem. (They only read the English road signs when driving, and they didn't realise that Nablyss was a place to avoid.)

They had no idea where they were, but somewhere along they noticed that all the shop signs were in Arabic, and the people around them looked much more like Arabs than Jews. Just to be on the safe side, they closed the car windows so that it wouldn't be too obvious that they weren't Arabs. They drove right through with no problem, and only a slightly odd glance from the IDF soldiers.

They didn't do it on purpose, and wouldn't do it again, but in retrospect my father was rather proud of the whole incident.

He did not go to enjoy. He went to see what propoganda they tell tourists and whats going on inside.

He said the tour guide spoke about how the IDF brutally beat up a 12 year old and when he mentioned he heard she had a knife the whole group got quiet and tour guide was really upset at him.

LOL

I'm glad that they are fine. That's quite a story!

Things were quieter two or three years ago, and we used to cut through a corner of Shechem to reach Har Eival. But I wouldn't do it now.

In the past year alone, we've had 3 incidents of haredi bachurim attempting to sneak into kever Yosef without an army escort, and each time they barely left with their lives. There was also that poor family that got lost on erev YK, and were only saved by a miracle.

Ami magazine had a reporter that joined a group going into North Korea a number of years ago.
