Where can I find accurate information about the flu vaccine shedding? I know that the live vaccine sheds but I'm curious about the amount of time it sheds, and also can the shedding cause the flu?

I doubt you will find accurate information about that. It's not something the vaccine companies want publicized.

I dont know if the shedding can cause the flu, but this is one vaccine I don't give. I used to give it. One year I gave it to 4 of my kids. 3 of them had it 3x that winter! Tested positive, fever and the whole 9 yards. That was the.last.time.I.ever.gave.the.flu.vaccine.
Oh and my pediatrician refused to test for the flu when I begged to test for it "because this year is a great year and it can't possibly be the flu". I sat in the office and refused to leave untill I got the test done.

I also don't want to give it but if the class is getting it and it sheds, for how long do I need to keep my child home?

Generally kids don’t all get the shot at the same time- it’s anywhere from oct to dec.

the shot is not live. only the nasal mist its, and most doctors don't recommend that

This exactly. My pediatrician tells me this every year when I take my kids for the shot.

I'm in Israel and I think they give the live version here.
