Every Yom Tov I sing this to my girls after lighting candles, but I always end up singing the same two lines over and over. Anyone remember this song? I'm pretty sure it was written by Shuli Calek.
Does anyone remember the year in Camp Shira there was some kind of Friday night theme about Yom Tov, and we sang this song with Mrs. Braunstein a"h every week?
Here's what I remember:
The sun is setting
The ocean is still
The mountains are waiting
The grass is quiet on the hill
The sun is setting
The flowers look upwards to the sky
The earth she is smiling
And do you know why?
Because Yom Tov is coming
The world's filled with promise and hope
With all that surrounds us
Now I know I can cope
Mekadesh Yisrael
Mekadesh Yisrael bazmanim
I feel eternal
When Yom Tov comes in
Wow, I didn't realize I remembered all that until I came here to type it up! But I'm pretty sure I'm missing something, possibly before/after the "cuz Y"T is coming" paragraph, and I probably mixed up some lines also...
Would love to hear if anyone else remembers this!
