It’s totally out but it’s your kitchen. Do what you like.

If you love the look, go for it. It's your kitchen and your the one who will be spending time in it. But it's really out. I can't even remember the last time I saw a cherry kitchen besides in my grandmother's house.

I do not see much call for cherry in my design (and cabinet sales) business. But what is "out" now may be "in" 5 years from now. Cherry is a beautiful wood. Please get something you like!

It's definitely not in, but if you love it I think you can modernize it. Like maybe cherry cabinets and stunning white counters and white backsplash. Or some cherry cabinets and some white... Try to google modern cherry kitchens and looking at houzz website to see if you can somehow incorporate cherry while keeping it up to date.

We renovated our kitchen with cherry cabinets just a couple of years ago. I wanted stained, not painted wood for both looks and durability and picked light(ish) cherry from all the available samples.
We absolutely love the timeless look. It does not appear dated combined with modern appliances and lots of lighting.

Five years ago I put a kitchen into a new house. I used a wood color, Fabuwood Hallmark Brandy, because I didn't want white or cream and I wanted a warm look. I have a big kitchen so it didn't make the room look small or dark. I also paired it with white quartz counters, and my tile floor is mostly white with some brown and grey. Paint is taupe. Appliances are stainless steel. Good lighting is important! I think it's beautiful and I am the one who lives here Very Happy
