I had this. I looked it up in my machine’s manual and it had something to do with bleach and self clean and emptying a tube. Anyways, I did it a while ago and it worked well. Each machine probably has specific instructions

The rubber gasket where you close the door?

Take a rag soaked in plain white vinegar, wrap it around your finger or a couple of chopsticks, insert between the folds and rub, rub, rub, changing to a clean part of the rag with each swipe or two. When no more stuff comes off, dry with a clean cloth.

Now, to keep mold away, dry the gasket after EVERY and I do mean EVERY laundry session. If you do five loads back-to-back, dry it off after the last one. If you do only one load a day, dry it after that load. No exceptions. Swipe your finger inside to make sure it's bone dry before leaving the machine. And leave the door ajar when not in use.

Always keep the machine open when not in use.

Wash on the highest heat a cycle of vinegar and baking soda or buy a special washing machine tablet (I like tides).

not sure if this belongs here but I literally just was about to ask this
my machine is not spinning well and my laundry comes out soaking wet, which results in my second problem the dryer is overworking and "shvitzing" away plus my hanging loads take forever to dry.
I already did an extra spin and on the highest setting what else can I do? is it time for a new machine it's only like what 8 years old.

anyone had this and was able to fix?

Have you checked the opening at the bottom of the machine to see if anything is stuck? There is a stopper you can unscrew and empty out.
Just to note 8 yrs is not so bad for a new age washing machine but I would get a tech to look at it before giving up.

Buy Glisten washing machine cleaner (Jewish supermarkets usually carry it).
https://a.co/d/1XUUCXs
Pour a small amount on a rag. Wipe inside the rubber seal with the treated rag until mold/goop residue is removed. (If there's actual mold there now, it may take a few such rags.)
With machine empty, add 1/2 cup Glisten to detergent drawer.
Run washer on normal using full load cycle.
Repeat wipe down and laundry cycle, if still not fully clean.

Do this once a month as maintenance to keep it clean.

Always keep door open when machine is not in use. Closing it causes mold.

Wash towels on super hot, so that machine is getting regular sanitizing while in use.
