replacing dining room / living room floor. Taking off older carpet and replacing with?
(Please note this room gets the most traffic, as it's right near the front door. Also regarding color, it needs to blend with my mahogany furniture)
Any tips, ideas would be appreciated.

I’m very happy with tile in regards to wear and tear. You can put a rug down in the living room

Lots of ppl use brown flooring, but the current trend is gray. Think gray will stick around? Or go with classic brown?

If you care about trends, gray is already passe and will date a home.
Warm wood in a natural stain is always classic and elegant - the little black dress of flooring.
FWIW, darker floors are harder to keep clean because they show every bit of dust - they also show damage more than a lighter natural stain.
is there any other flooring to consider because the floors don't exist in a vacuum.

Also if uiu have dark mahogany furniture, you would definitely want light stained wood to contrast and also so the room doesn’t feel so dark. White oak is very popular now. It isn’t white but is a slightly different species than the more common red oak which can appear pink and isn’t as popular now.
