Sticky Honey Chicken
Excerpt From: Jill Winger. “The Prairie Homestead Cookbook.
⅓ cup honey
¼ cup tomato sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon ground ginger
6 bone-in, skin-on chicken pieces (thighs, drumsticks, wings) or boneless breasts
Whisk the honey, tomato sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and ginger together in a small bowl. Put the chicken pieces in a large bowl or baking dish and pour the mixture over the chicken. Cover and marinate for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator, or up to overnight.
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Arrange the chicken pieces in a 9 x 13–inch baking dish skin-side up and pour the marinade over the top. (If I use breasts, I like to cut them in half to help them soak up more flavor.)
Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F, basting the chicken pieces with the liquid several times during the cooking process for maximum flavor.
For crispier chicken, broil the finished pieces on high for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the skin is brown and crisp.
