My kids want a large screen to connect their Nintendo Switch to, for when they play against each other.
Please help me find a screen that wont give them internet access.
What am I looking for?
-most common screen that pops up is a Smart TV. Apps are included, but looks like most can be disabled with a PIN, which im ok with. But some have browsers? Can those be disabled? Are there any without browsers?
-I can get a non-smart tv but they are hard to find? Or am I not looking in the right places? 4k resolution is much better and ideal but supposedly harder to find on non smart tvs?
-anything else?
I just want my kids to be able to use their nintendo switch on a large screen without any access to apps or browsers

We got an Amazon smart tv to use with the Nintendo switch. If your not logged in to the Amazon account, the kids can't access anything else. If you plug a laptop or any other device in then it can be used for larger but we also don't give them access to the remote so they can't maneuver around things, they can't even control the volume without the remote. So far they haven't found any way around this system.

You can just buy a large screen and connect it to the Switch with a HDMI cable. The screen will literally not be able to do anything more than display the image sent to it over the cable. Dell makes good ones for $150 or less.

Thank you. Do you mind posting a link to what an Amazon smart tv is? I googled but couldnt find...
Also, can you elaborate on this- if the amazon account is not logged on, then they can only access the switch, even if they have the remote? You mentioned you dont give them the remote...why? What does the remote do if the amazon account isnt logged on?

Thank you, I really appreciate this. I guess now I need to figure out if 32 inch screen is big enough...I think they were hoping for larger

We have a 27" computer monitor. It's not huge but large enough that two or three kids can play together very comfortably. We keep ours on a desk, but if you hung it on the wall it would probably allow for even better viewing

Does the computer work well with Nintendo Switch or do you need a “tv screen”?

Ok so this looks great and the price is good but im so confused...none of the apps that are listed will be accessible to the kids if amazon account isnt logged on? No matter what? Whats with the remote? And some of the reviews people mention it has an internet browser? Or is that not accessible either without the amazon account?

Ok.
But dont they ever need the remote?
Also, what can they access with the remote?
Eta im realizing now...if they truly never need access to the remote then I can just physically lock the remote away and they can use the screen on their own for the nintendo and thats it?

Be aware you can easily get a universal remote anywhere for cheap. I would recommend a computer monitor with the right cable connection in the back.

We have a large TV screen for our nintendo switch but never set anything up on it. Never entered wifi password or connected it to anything. Literally just a screen with a cable connecting it to the switch. No need for a remote, the screen has a power button and volume buttons on the side.

You mean its a regular smart tv that can technically connect to internet, but you never connected it?
Do you mind posting a link of what you have?

Im thinking further...does this mean that I might be able to purchase any smart TV, but not connect it to the internet, and be able to use it only for gaming by connecting it with the HDMI cable?

Just need to let you know that for some games, even for those that are not multiplayer, the Switch might need an internet connection to download updates to let you play them and sometimes to fix glitches with an update.
I know not related to a smart TV but still internet related.

So it looks like I have a bunch of options...
I can get a smaller monitor (not likely-we want a screen large enough for 5 players to huddle in front of)
I can get any smart tv and not connect to internet
I can get an amazon fire tv and not give the kids access to remote
-this I found from google-supposedly I can get the amazon fire tv, and enable the option that every single app would need the parents to enter a pin before being used (basically never) which would mean they have no access to the internet parts, if this tip is true
