as a typical office worker working 9-5 or a 40 hour week you should be making at least $60,000 if not I would say to find a better offer or look for something else. If your making $60,000 then it's decent and I would ask for a cost of living raise of at least $7-$10,000. It may seam like a large raise but it's really not.

Yes it is. And yet it's the accepted norm in some communities.

Wow. That’s my income for 40 hours but I have close to 20 yrs experience and I have specific skills for accounting/bookkeeping etc.
I do get other benefits though and I work for a large corporation, not a one person office.

What do you mean by "net"?

Aren't you working for someone? Net is for when you have a business. Luke your business can gross 1M, but your net after expenses is 100k.

Like if you're referring to how much you take home after taxes your boss does not care. He/she cares about what they pay you in gross. If you pay higher taxes you're not going to be paid more.

My boss does care about net.
My net pay is $1100 weekly and planning to ask for a raise now too.
I also works 27 hours.

Thanks all of you that responded with an answer and not with some argument...

I asked a technical question and appreciate those who understood that!

Net really depends how much goes off for taxes and that depends on the amount of people in your household. If you have 3 kids your net is more even if your gross is the same

Would be a help to let me know what kind of work you do. Not to mention other factors that could be very relevant. Hours. Size of company. Benefits. Education level.

I mean, if I'm a brain surgeon and you're a receptionist is knowing my pay going to help you ask for a raise?

You don’t understand, if OP is married and you are single, she deserves more money.

The reality I'm seeing on this site right now is that unmarried women have no right to privacy, and no right to make equal pay. Women in these communities are being infantilized.
