Wow, called Berezin, he was SO honest! Told me what to do myself so I don’t have to pay him for a service call! And his service call fee is much cheaper than estimate I got from someone else!
I’m impressed. Thank you for recommending!!

Sure. Someone like that deserves to get out business.
There are so many dishonest people out there who take advantage.

Had to pay $85+ for a repairman to tell me my fridge couldn’t be repaired!

No.

You paid a repairman $85 to drive to your house from wherever he was at a time that was good for you and use his years of experience to diagnose your problem quickly and efficiently.

It's not his fault it was broken beyond repair. He would have loved to fix it. He doesn't make money by you buying a new fridge.

No actually you’re wrong.
It took him a while to look at he fridge and said he didn’t know what was wrong with it and didn’t know how to fix it. Sorry but that shouldn’t have cost me $85.

Sorry to disappoint but this is normal.
I have used Berezin an Mativetsky many times for my own house and houses DH manages. I highly recommend them and am a repeat customer. There have been times that they fixed and times that boilers, heaters etc had to be replaced and I had to pay a service charge for "it being broken" in addition to the new boiler and installation or whatever it was.
Calling down a repair guy=charge.
But I agree there are definitely some that are more honest and affordable than others.

Mativetsky also helped me once on the phone to diagnose the problem on my own.
Although it's normal to pay for a service call every time a service guy shows up, when you're told the appliance is garbage, it's very frustrating and very upsetting!

Repairmen have to make a living. They can't afford to drive around looking at peoples' appliances for free.

I remember using Berezin to repair my a/c about 15 years ago. Still works....

I agree. It's frustrating and I do get frustrated myself..BUT the guy has a right to charge for his time.

So he should drive down to your house for free when he could have been at a paying job? You obviously needed him to tell you that as you couldn't figure it out yourself so why shouldn't he be paid for his knowledge?
