3yo DD and 1yo DS get these horrific coughs whenever the season changes. My luck has it, where we live the weather can switch back and forth multiple times within each season. So they are constantly getting these coughs that disturb their sleep (and mine!). Their gag reflexes seem to be pretty strong too because they tend to vomit after coughing quite easily.
Anything I can do or give them to help protect them from getting the coughs to begin with? I believe they are dressed sufficiently for whichever weather the day brings...

I give my kids extra vitamin C when we have change of weather and through the flu season to boost their immune system. It's not perfect, but it does help. They don't get sick as often since I started doing this.

Have you already tried

Cold mist humidifier while sleeping
Saline spray a few times a day
Drinking warm honey, lemon, ginger tea

Thank you. I got a prescription for an inhaler for 'seasonal asthma' BH. I will also look into a cold mist humidifier and try the olive oil rub. Tea will be challenging for them to drink, I've tried warm water with honey but they are not interested. Perhaps I'll give the vitamin C a go as well.

Much appreciated!

Also try putting a pillow under their regular pillow so they are elevated it helps my toddler avoid the overnight coughing.
