I’ve been wondering about this too. Especially since I suspect my adhd child may have some bipolar aspects as well.

My mother took Iithium orotate for depression short term, and said it really helped.

I know that lithium has been linked to kidney failure. Clearly, as with any medication there is a cost based analysis where it is worth it if it does more good than harm. I would definitely consult an MD as opposed to self prescribing.

That is the lithium drug which is toxic.

There is a lithium supplement which is safer, sold over the counter.

I have it in my house. Would like to use it in two of my kids but I'm dragging my feet about it.

And the lithium supplement is federally regulated? (most supplements are not) Has it gone through extensive testing? Maybe it is a Haimish company and therefore good to use?

I’m not saying it is bad or not safe to use, just saying one should use these things under medical supervision.

Most medical professionals don’t know the first thing about nutritional lithium

The over the counter lithium is a micro dose if the drug. And it is a natural mineral.

There are waters that naturally contain lithium absorbed from the earth.

Never read of any deaths or injuries from supplements. (Except iron).

There are thousands of deaths, and Injuries from drugs.

Topaz,
Curious-what sort of results have you started seeing?
Asking because I just started using it now; I ordered it because of this thread.

Thanks!

I Google "lithium orotate ".

The second article was a .gov website, that means government.

At 7.5 section near the bottom it discussed safety.

It said in 40 years of use in North America there has not been one death or serious side effect documented from Lithium orotate!

There was a paper of a man who took 18 lithium or pills at one time, OVERDOSE, and only suffered nausea and TEMPORARY tremors.

So it's very safe.

Start at lowest dose.

Everything has warning for legal reasons.

Some idiot will take huge doses and then sue cause no warning.

It is NOT same as "drug lithium calcitrate" but a different form, "lithium orotate"

With regular lithium, there were regular blood tests and things you couldn't take at the same time. What are the guidelines for this one, and how do you report it to your doctors and pharmacist? I've never seen it, so I don't know anything about it.
