I teach in a kiruv school and I feel like I can use some training in order to do a better job.

I want to learn all the do’s, and don’t, and hows...

Any recommendations?

Do love each chil
Do give joyous experiences
Do share how they are loved by Hashem
Do teach Torah with the goal of creating a connection to Hashem
Do teach them that every Mitzvah is like a diamond
Do allow and embrace hard questions
Don’t judge
Don’t guilt them
Don’t preach at them
Don’t water things down but don’t come down heavy either
Hatzlacha!
Hashem should bentch all your efforts and crown them with success!

Do answer hard questions honestly to the best of your ability AND accept that the answer that feels right to you might NOT be the answer that resonates with your pupil.
Do stockpile lists of alternative answers/approaches to responding to your pupils’ questions. For one student you might have to be rational, for another spiritual, for another pragmatic. Do consider outside of the box reasons or explanations for keeping mitzvos. (Eg by keeping mitzvos you become part of the community of people who keep mitzvos- this one is highly underrated!) Do not elevate one approach over the others

For books, I’d read anything that’s more geared towards BT style learning ie anything by Rabbi Akiva Tatz (specifically letters to a Buddhist jew), Rebbetzin Tzippora Heller, Rabbi Dovid Gottleib.

For overall advice, it’s similar to any chinuch advice. Don’t be afraid of their questions, don’t be afraid to say “I don’t know the answer. Let me look into it and get back to you” Teach from ahavas H’ not yira
