I bought a top online that I love, but the elastic on bottom isn’t flattering.
I don’t sew and can’t visualize - what would happen if I took out the elastic?

It can end up too loose with a more maternity look, wider at the bottom than you might want. You can have a seamstress add more elastic instead of removing it just won’t be as cheap an alteration as just taking it out.

It’s too tight with the elastic, makes me look very large

You can loosen it by adding an elastic piece to make it longer (to not be so tight).
Or, you can make a slit, cut the elastic and slide it out. Although some elastics are stitched in throughout. My daughter didnt like a top from Junee with the elastic, she just cut it and hemmed the end. The top ended up shorter.

Only do it if it’s not too pricey and it’s worth the risk.
(I will be tossing my son’s expensive outfit due to unsuccessful alterations )
