The Jewish community is located in a suburb called Overland Park.
They have a community day school, not orthodox, called the HBHA. The Lubavitch shul started a small school a couple of years ago, which uses home schooling curriculum (it's not just attended by Lubavitchers).
There are two Lubavitch shuls and one Orthodox shul called BIAV.
A Kosher Subway opened Sukkos time, and Kosher food (deli, meat, kugels, and other ready made food) and Chalav Yisrael is available at one of the local grocery stores. There's also a Kosher bakery.
It's SUCH a nice community! Gorgeous neighborhood, and the cost of living is extremely low.

I haven't been to Kansas City, but I do business with organizations in the community, and I must say that I have been very impressed. They seem to have built the community up enormously in the past few years and hired young, dynamic people to head up organizations and institutions.
Kansas City itself is apparently a very pretty city -- large enough to provide some of the amenities of city living without as many downsides. It's also relatively close to incredible recreation areas -- just a car drive through the Ozarks constitutes a vacation!
Obviously, there's still a lot to do in the community. To my knowledge, there's no community kollel or similar anchor, and the school situation is not ideal. Nevertheless, depending on personal circumstances, I'd definitely consider it.

My sister & brother-in-law moved away from Kansas City to a more frum community this year because the school situation was very bad (if you are frum).
I visited it once and it is very pretty, and the community was lovely. However, if you have school aged kids (or plan to) I would choose somewhere else.

My dh was there for 8 months about 5 years ago. it is what finally made him make aliyah. apart from the Ezer Mitsion Kollel he found no frum families willing to mekarev . There was no other attempts at chesed. The community will tell you they are a growing community. Look at the numbers. They say otherwise.
But go ahead and move there - maybe it will be the push to make you make aliya too.
Edited. PM me with concerns. -Crayon210

OP: I was asking for a frum family FROM Israel with a few kids already in school, who need to move there for a couple of years, job-related. I was curious about what they will find there since I had no info about the community before this post. Now that I have some info, I am not going to share what I read here - why make them miserable before the fact? Either they already know and feel they can deal with it, or they don't care. At least the kids will learn some English.
So, how's the shopping?
Thanks for the input.
