Just like the threads of cute things kids said/did.
These are things American Israeli kids say because they speak English, but not fluently. |
Like I said, I thought I started a new thread. It was for the whole funny mistakes thing.

Before shabbos - when are you turning on the candles?
Since they say להדליק for lighting candles and for turning on the (electric) lights, they can't understand why we don't use one word for both in English!

My tooth fell!
This cracks me up because I'm always waiting for them to say "out" but they just stop the sentence a word early.

My Israeli MIL will ask “can I put you some food?” I think in Hebrew she’d say אפשר לשים לך?
My husband used to say this until I pointed it out.

I feel like someone just automatically hugs all my posts - it’s so frustrating. |
They are probably hugging because they thought someone was mechalel shabbat and drove on shabbat.

My goodness. Just laughing anonymously at cute mistakes our kids said.
Don't be so dramatic.

I love this thread!
I definitely make some of these mistakes myself.
One of my family's favorites is "making problems."
As in "the fridge/washing machine/air conditioner is making problems, maybe we need to call a technician"
A translation of the Israeli colloquialism עושה בעיות ...

Anyone else's kids use even instead of also? It drives me bananas. "I even want some" instead of "I also want some"

Not related to this thread, but sort of..
My younger kids speak English and only start Hebrew when they go to iriya gan.
My 1.5 year old picks up words from older sibs. When he wants something he demands "ani ani" because the older ones say ani rotzeh...

I grew up in israel to American parents.
One Shabbos I told my sister that my friend made ices (juice in the ices tray) and we were discussing if it’s allowed on Shabbos or not. The way I said it to her was “היא הפריזה את זה”
They all got a good laugh
