We are invited to a kiddush on shabbos chanuka, hotels were almost 400 pounds for today till Sunday so the baal simcha found us a place at a family with a basement. They got us treats and everyting and we can use the basement free of charge. I want to give them something in return.
A nice bouquet for Shabbos?
A nice book like Eishes Chayil of zera shimshon?
We are both JPF, litvish and in the UK.

Either of your suggestions is fine. A nice bottle of wine or a chocolate platter are also nice.
I'd gift both families, the one that found you the accommodations and the family whose basement you'll be using. It may sound costly to buy for both but two gifts will still be a lot less than 400 pounds.
